You're Not Really Missing Anything
While searching through our archives for something else entirely, we came across a collection of editorial cartoons we'd done for the Wellesley Townsman. Fifty of them, to be exact.
Here are the cartoons in their entirety, though we've purposely reproduced them at an incredibly small scale so as to prevent you from seeing how unfunny they truly are.
The process of creating these consisted of receiving an email roughly 9 hours before the cartoon would be due, detailing a basic premise related to a local town topic about which we knew nothing. We would then try and imagine how to make this topic funny. Success would be acknowledged when we managed to make it not entirely unfunny. After completing the illustration it would be sent to our editor, who would usually offer no response. On a couple of rare occassions we did hear that the cartoon had offended somebody enough for them to write the paper. This would be considered a true success.
Here's one with some pretty unfortunate art, though we thought it was kind of funny. The man referenced in this apparently wasn't pleased.
